In my hometown of Brandon, Manitoba, we have experienced significant snowfall this year, and so I enjoy once again seeing the grass peek out from under its’ wintery blanket. Today had me running many errands around town, and more than once I saw coins on the sidewalk, which had been dropped in the snow, now exposed during the melt. It reminded me that for many, spring is a time where things we’ve ignored, misplaced, or even put off, will re-surface and need to be dealt with before summer. We all know summer has an entirely different vibe – kids off school, vacations for some or stay-cations for others, and long daylight hours that can be spent outside. Before those long summer days, we need to take care of the things that winter allowed us to put off. Perhaps it’s a return to cooking at home, instead of eating out, or once again taking that dog for a walk through his favorite park, rather than simply around the block.
Spring is a great time for a financial clean sweep, or a bit of “spring cleaning” of the bank ledger. Spring is a time of change and change often brings uncertainty. Didn’t get the tax refund you expected? Or, worse yet, ended up with a tax bill you didn’t expect? Perhaps the credit card statements have come in after Christmas, and now that it’s March, you haven’t been able to make headway. No matter the reason, spring is a great time to review your financial situation. If you don’t understand why you can’t get ahead, or you wonder if there is a better way to tackle your debt, consider a free financial consultation with our Licensed Insolvency Trustee (LIT). Often, an objective third party can see options you might not have or can make helpful suggestions. Our LIT can explain your options, no matter how big or small your problem, and can help you understand how each will impact you. Consultations are available in person (by appointment) in our offices in Brandon and Yellowknife, or by phone at a time that is convenient for you, for those living anywhere in Manitoba or the Northwest Territories.
We look forward to helping you do a little financial “spring cleaning”. Send us an email, or contact us today!
